Keep Away From Tickets

Speeding is only one way to getting a ticket from those traffic enforcers and traffic authority personnel. That is why it is important that you do know how to follow rules and regulations when you are out driving on the highway or on the streets. You see, tickets could cost you much and could also be added in your records.
Remember that you can only proceed through an intersection if and only if the front part of your vehicle has already entered the area before the stoplight actually turns red. When people say entered the area, it means that the front end of your vehicle has already crossed the limit line, the marked or the unmarked crosswalk line. Most states actually have this ordinance and rule that if the red light changes and your front bumper is already in the intersection, chances are that you would not be getting any ticket for running a red light.
To avoid U-turn violations, you should try turning left somewhere else instead of making this move in a business district or across a traffic island. You should U-turn in a residential area and some highways even allow it. However, you should be cautious to see and check if there is no other car approaching within some 200 feet of your car. If you do not know 200 feet, it could be approximated to around 12 car lengths.
When driving on roads or streets, make sure that you maintain a distance behind that one in front of you. Do not attempt to tailgate. Make sure that the distance between your vehicle and that one in front of you should be equal to around a car length, which is for every 10 miles per hour that you are driving. Not only are you avoiding any kind of ticket, you also are saving yourself and other people from harm.
You should pass another vehicle only in designated areas. This does not mean that you should pass only when there is a solid line in your lane. You should follow this rule for you are in more ways than one not interfering with the safe operation of any vehicle that is traveling in your direction.

The Nissan GT-R is Ready for the Market

At the recent 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan Motor Co Ltd announced that it will launch the new Nissan GT-R in the Japanese market this coming December. Unfortunately, the Japanese automaker did not announce if it will also roll out the GT-R in other markets including here in the United States.
As Nissan s super car model, the GT-R features a new vehicle platform with independent transaxle 4WD system. The new Nissan GT-R comes with a monstrous new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 "VR38" engine under its hood. This power unit can pump out 480 PS (353 kW) revving at 6400 rpm and pulls out a maximum torque output 588 Nm from 3200 to 5200 rpm. The new 3.8-litre twin turbo V6 engine also features plasma-sprayed bores and secondary air management system. A GR6-type dual clutch transmission with paddle shifting and a Borg Warner six-plate dual clutch completes the powertrain package for the Nissan GT-R. With the optimum air-fuel ratio and special twin-turbo exhaust manifold system, the Nissan GT-R receives the ultra-low emission vehicle (U-LEV) certification in Japan.
On the chassis and suspension parts, the Nissan GT-R comes with a special Bilstein DampTronic system. This quality suspension is complemented by large Brembo full-floating drilled rotors, low steel high stiffness brake pads and Brembo mono block six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.
The Nissan GT-R s exterior styling features functional design as well as high performance aerodynamic components. The super car s body structure is made of steel, carbon fiber and aluminum. Other exterior features include front fenders with "aero-blades", large hood budge and single air intake, new "super wide beam" headlights, four-ring taillights, efficient rear spoiler, and large integrated phi 120 exhaust tips. The Nissan GT-R comes in with new Ultimate Silver special exterior color.
Moving inside, the Nissan GT-R features aesthetically designed and functional interior, that Nissan defined as "Interior suitable for daily driving or supercar duties." Some interior highlights of the Nissan GT-R include three-dimensional metal-like ring, large metallic-framed center console, ergonomically designed shift lever, high-speed, high-capacity CARWINGS navigation system, Music Box hard drive, DVD and CD player, and Bluetooth(R) audio function. For audiophiles, Nissan also offers the specially designed BOSE sound system, which includes woofers in the rear center armrest and traditional door speakers.
Finally, Nissan won t compromise the safety of its customers as well as the pedestrians. Nissan offers a wide range of active and passive safety components for the GT-R including pop-up engine hood, ,driver and front passenger SRS Air Bag System, front seat belts with tension reducer, front seat belts with load limiter, three-point rear seat belts, .driver and front passenger SRS Side Air Bag System, and SRS Curtain Air Bag System. Customers can also get car cover for this model to preserve its sleek appearance.

How Often Do You Change Oil?

When do you need to replace your lubricating oil? If you have a large quantity of lubricating oil to change, it is going to burn a hole in your pocket. So most plant operators try to preserve the properties of the lubricating oil for as long as possible.

One of the most important functions of lubricating oil is to reduce the friction between the moving parts of machinery. But there are other features to look at.

When do you know that the oil needs to be changed? Below is a rough guide:

1. Viscosity has changed by 10%
2. Flash Point has dropped to 150 degree Celsius
3. Water Content has reached 2%
4. TBN, or Total Base Number has reduced by 20%
5. Insoluble Content has increased to 5% of the oil

Due to the oxidation of the oil when exposed to heat and oxygen, the viscosity of the oil tend to reduce. With the reduction of viscosity, the film of oil between rubbing metal surfaces becomes more difficult to maintain. This results in metal to metal contact, micro seizures that leads to scuffing, abrasion and other damages.

In large diesel engines, fuel oil from dripping injectors or fuel pumps sometimes finds their way into the lubrication oil sump. This has the tendency to reduce the flash point of the lubricating oil. In addition to reducing the viscosity that is detrimental to lubrication, this contamination with fuel oil can be quite dangerous. If there is a hotspot in any of the rubbing parts, this can lead to a crankcase explosion.

Water can also find its way into the lubricating oil from leaks in the cooling water system o-rings or gaskets. In addition to reducing the lubricating properties of the oil, the presence of water in the oil can give rise to bacteria or fungal growth, which will quickly damage the oil properties as well as contributing to acid corrosion and oxidation of the oil, changing the chemical composition of the oil itself. However, if the water content is below 0.5%, it can still be removed by centrifugal purifiers.

The total base number is especially needed for the cylinder liner lubrication of engines that run on poor quality fuel with high sulphur content. The base additive is used to reduce the corrosive effects of the sulphuric acid fumes on the cylinder.

With large diesel engine installations, the lubricating oils are continuously filtered and purified to reduce the insoluble particles in the oil. Special strainers containing magnets are used to trap particles of carbon or iron particles. In large diesel engines, the carbon particles are byproducts of combustion while the iron particles comes from rubbing of gears, cams or other parts where wear down still occur.

The presence of these particles interferes with the lubrication of bearings, most of which contain soft white-metal coating. The particles can become embedded into the soft metal and cause abrasion of the metal parts.
